Greetings,

Our goal is to use this thread on tribe to bring together the bands througout the world that we've either traded shows with or plan to trade shows with in the future.

It's our collective band network with the ultimate goal of trading shows between music folks who enjoy each other's music and trust each other.

Trading shows to expand each other's fans.

This plan idea is beginning to show positive results. We've traded shows with 31 Seconds (Brooklyn, Michigan) and Jen Elliot (New York city) and we're inviting all artists to join the team!

We're interested in expading our network of bands and venues in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and New York that regularly bring in artists from these states (other states are welcome to join the team).

The goal is to work together so that we expand each other's fan base. We invite you to play a show with us in Detroit and in return we get the opportunity to play a show with you in your hometown. No one expects to get rich from the show, but it has been beneficial in building up everyone's list of fans.

You're invited to join the team and your feedback on this idea is welcome. We'll post updates here.

a good resource for trading shows, if i am interpreting this correctly, is to put them up on the archive.

    www.archive.org

it's called the Lllama and it archives(obviously) your shows for download. it might expand your fan base slightly. if you want more info on this, let me know.

what do you mean by trading shows? you want a straight up 1 for 1 deal?

the way the archive works is that it will archive all of your shows for you and people can come and pick a show and decide whether to download it or not. it takes away the human element of it but it is a quick way of disseminating your music to the masses.

did you mean trading shows as in we play a show with you, then you play a show with us? i think i may have interpreted it wrong.

Hey Jackie, I've got a show coming up on April 8th. It's not in PA but it's close. It's at the Cove in Geneva on the Lake. About midway between Cleveland and Erie Pa. Let me know if you guys want to travel that far, it's a decent club, and it's pretty crowded in the summer. I'm trying to get in there during the off season to set it up for this summer. It's about 45 minutes east of Cleveland.

" did you mean trading shows as in we play a show with you, then you play a show with us." That is what I meant.

Although I now understand the concept that you're talking about and appreciate you posting this new (for me) idea. Thank you!

    hello hello

i'm gabriela (... from The Pussy Pirates) and i'd love to trade shows. we're based out of ann arbor but love to travel around and play shows too.

we play a lot of shows around here, mostly with other punk bands but not always. we're currently organizing a show in kalamazoo... which should be fun. possibly grand rapids and marquette too... but we haven't played detroit or hamtramck yet (which we'd definately like too). well, that's michigan... but we'd love to play all over too... we've been looking at a couple places in manhatten. blah blah blah, anyway, we're down.

you can download some of our music at www.thepussypirates.com
it's still a little shoddy, under construction and the like, but accessible. eventually we'll get the video clips up too.

      Welcome to the Tribe Gabriela.

We'd be glad to have you play a show with us in Detroit. I'll post our available shows for March-May here as soon as we finished booking them.

I checked out your website and it looks like the index file has been deleted so all that loads is your website's root directory. Please let us know when you've uploaded your site.

Here's an update where we are on launching this program:

We're building a network of artists in key markets spanning from New York City to Chicago. Our initial goal is to find and work with 10 artists who are able to host mid-size shows (200-500 person draw) in their home cities.

The benefit for all 10 artists is a built-in audience in each city where we can promote each others music for a reasonable cost. It also helps to know a friendly group of folks in each city who can help with issues that tend to come up during a tour.

The key issues for teaming up with other artists are:
    1) Finding high quality, reliable artists
    2) Reasonably compatible music between the artists
    3) Determining if the artist is able to regularly draw 200-500 people per show.
    4) Are they able to provide a PA and backline (drums, amps, mics, monitors, etc.) so that a minimum amount of equipment needs to be transported by the traveling artist.
    5) Does the total financial picture for the show make sense for both the home and traveling artist
    6) Most importantly: Determining if we want to work together from a personality perspective.

Based on population and location, the initial cities that we've targeted are:
    1) New York
    2) Chicago
    3) Philadelphia
    4) Detroit
    5) Indianapolis
    6) Baltimore
    7) Columbus (Ohio)
    8) Boston
    9) Washington D.C.
    10) Cleveland

So far we have confirmed artists in Detroit (us) and Indianapolis. In Detroit, we plan to continue hosting our successful "Masquerade Ball" series of events 4 times per year. Additional information on our next event "The Roaring 20's Masquerade Ball" is available at our website: www.JackieBlue.com
